Are You Mentally Homeless?

Hi, It's been a while but I really wanted to take the time to get this chat right. How are you? 🙄 How are things going? As you evolve through these strange times and continuously adapt your lifestyle, where do you find yourself spending the majority of your time? What do I mean - well take a moment to ask yourself the following questions and then capture the answers on paper, on your phone, or simply say them out loud so you have chance to reflect and hear the answers.... 🤔 Are you still working from home for a majority of your working week?
🤔 Do you find yourself still restricted with whom you can interact with in your home?
🤔 Has you social bubble become smaller again due to covid hot spots and lockdowns?
🤔 Are you able to continue with your hobbies, interests and past times?
🤔 As the weather faces into the changes of the season are you leaving your home less?
🤔 Are you living with other people?
🤔 Has the connection of social media increased and filled up more of your day?
Ok, so let's take those answers and ask a few more questions.....
Pre pandemic when would you process your day and give your mind quiet time during any or some of the below:
Never gave myself time
On the commute to / from home
At the gym / sporting activity
At a religious setting
At home
With friends on a night out
At regular visits with family
When on holidays
During a pamper session
When out with nature
As a result of the current restrictions do you feel that you have less space to think and let your mind wander and relax?
If you have answered yes to any of the above then maybe you should face into the fact that you are at risk of becoming mentally homeless.
What I mean by this is that the space you use to live in for work, hobbies, socialising etc has shrunk massively and all of these activities are for the greater part now taking place under the one roof.
Flavour into this you may live with another person then they too are in that space making it feel more cramped. All of which leaves you with less space to think and have quiet meaning. We no longer have our spaces to retire into re:
Down time thinking
Processing
Reflecting
Reframing So from a mental health perspective are we are in danger of leaving ourselves without a place to think and rebalance. Does this by definition expose us to becoming mentally homeless... If you can recognise any of the above in your current situation then what can you do about it? Well there are a few things.... 👍 Setting up a routine to go out for a daily worry walk can really help. 👍 Create a small space in the home that (everyone recognises) you can sit in with silence to gather your thoughts. 👍 Invest in a journal so you can replace the conversion you would have with a loved one and capture your thoughts and feelings. 👍 Focus on your grateful moments daily and write them down on your phone, on the kitchen chalk board, in your journal but somewhere you can see them. The great news is we have lots of options it's all about finding the right one for you! Here's the final thing, ✨ You are amazing ✨ You are doing great ✨ You can do this ✨ Where you can You take back the control
